Turkey-Syria Earthquake Victims Update: 21,051 People Died, 78,124 Injured
Earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria continue to increase as the evacuation process. The death toll from the devastating earthquake was reported to have reached 21,051 people.
Reporting from the Turkish media, Friday (10/2/2023), Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said that 17,674 people died in his territory. While the number of injured victims reached 72,879 people.
Meanwhile in Syria, state media reports and the White Helmets civil defense organization said the death toll had risen to at least 3,377 people.
This figure consists of at least 2,030 people who were killed in areas controlled by the rebels, in northwestern Syria to be precise. In addition, another 1,347 people were killed in areas controlled by the Syrian government.
The local government reported the number of victims due to the earthquake in Syria reached 5,245 people. In detail, 2,295 people were in areas controlled by the government and 2,950 people in areas controlled by the rebels.
Thus, a total of at least 21,051 people were killed by the strong earthquake in Turkey and Syria. In total, at least 78,124 people were injured in the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
